IF YOU GREW UP IN CHICAGO IN THE LATE
1950'S THROUGH 1967, WLS WAS YOUR LIFE.
YOUR TRANSISTOR RADIO WAS HIDDEN
UNDER YOUR PILLOW EVERY NIGHT AS YOU
LISTENED TO ART ROBERTS AND DICK
BIONDI. OR AFTER SCHOOL TO CLARK
WEBER, GENE TAYLOR, RON RILEY, RON
BRITTAIN AND OTHERS PLAYING THE
GREATEST MUSIC OF ALL TIME.

EVERY WEEK YOU WENT TO YOUR TINY
NEIGHBORHOOD RECORD STORE AND
EXCITINGLY GRABBED THE NEW "SILVER
DOLLAR SURVEY" TO FIND OUT WHAT WAS
NUMBER ONE!

IN THE 1990's, I DECIDED THAT I WAS GOING
TO FIND ART ROBERTS. I FOUND HIM AT A
SMALL RADIO STATION IN TYLER, TEXAS. WE
TALKED FOR HOURS ABOUT WLS, WCFL, THE
MUSIC, THE TIMES. WE BECAME VERY CLOSE
FRIENDS UP UNTIL HIS PASSING. HE EVEN
APPEARED ON MY NATIONWIDE LIVE AUDIO
YAHOO! TALK SHOW.

I HAVE BEEN COMPILING FOR SOME YEARS
NOW, PHOTOS OF THOSE WONDERFUL
SURVEYS. COPY THEM, PUT THEM IN YOUR
PHOTO VIEWER AND BLOW THEM UP FOR A
CLOSE LOOK. AND PLEASE--SHARE THEM
WITH EVERYBODY TO WHOM THEY ALSO
MEAN A GREAT DEAL!
